uniqueness is operated by Janit Singh, a sole proprietor based in Pune, Maharashtra, India. This policy explains what the service collects, what happens to the videos you caption, and who else is involved. It is written to align with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
What we collect
- Account details — your name and email address. Passwords are handled by Google Firebase Authentication and are never visible to us.
- Your clips — the video or audio file you upload, for as long as it takes to caption or render it. See "Your video" below.
- Caption content — the transcript, your edits, caption styles and project settings you save.
- Billing records — which plan or credit pack you bought, when, and the payment reference. Card and UPI details are collected by Razorpay on their own systems and never reach ours.
- Referral data — your referral code and, if you used one, which code brought you in.
We do not run advertising trackers, we do not sell data, and we do not build advertising profiles.
Your video — where it goes and how long it stays
Your clip is uploaded to our servers. We want to be plain about this, because an earlier version of this site said otherwise and that was wrong.
When you caption a clip, the file is uploaded to our render server (hosted on Render, in Singapore) and the audio track is sent to Groq for speech-to-text. If you export a burned-in MP4, the clip is processed there too — burning captions into video is not something a browser can do.
Clips are deleted within 24 hours, and in normal operation much sooner — the working files are removed as soon as a render finishes, and a sweep runs every few minutes to clear anything left behind. Your clip is never used to train models, never shared, and never shown to anyone else.
What we keep after that is the text: your transcript and caption settings, so your project still opens. You can delete a project at any time.
Who else touches your data
These are the only third parties involved, and each one only receives what it needs to do its job:
- Google Firebase — accounts and database (your name, email, credit balance, saved projects).
- Groq — speech-to-text and Hinglish spelling correction. Receives your clip's audio track and caption words.
- Razorpay — payments. Receives your payment details directly; we only see the result.
- Render — server hosting, where clips are processed and briefly stored.
- MyMemory — receives caption text only, and only if you use the translate feature.
Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you may ask us to show you the personal data we hold about you, correct anything wrong, delete your account and its data, or withdraw consent for future processing. Email janitsingh05@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge.
Deleting your account removes your profile, projects and caption text. Billing records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.
Children
uniqueness is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
